U.S. Real Estate Market Outlook – Lifting Fog

We believe 2024 will be a year of lifting fog for commercial real estate. While that will be a welcome development from the obscurity of 2023, fog can lift to reveal the challenges on the road ahead. This is especially true when considering the potentially new-normal pricing regime. Still, we think the clarity offered by the coming year will be a step in the right direction of healing real estate capital markets. We expect transaction activity to begin recovering during the year, as buyers and sellers agree on the outlook for interest rates and thus real estate values. Although many macroeconomic factors remain unresolved, we believe that the resilience of the U.S. consumer will enable the U.S. economy and real estate sector to successfully overcome the challenges of the year ahead.
